ABOUT US

A beloved Hudson Valley institution, SKATE TIME is a neon-adorned shrine to 80’s and 90’s nostalgia. Home to a ten-thousand square foot roller rink, SKATE TIME also houses a token-operated arcade filled with vintage favorites and a full offering of ticket redemption prizes, as well as a café serving beer, wine and creative spins on classic fare. Located in the southern foothills of the Catskills, between the towns of Accord and Kerhonkson on Route 209, SKATE TIME is a favorite hangout for locals and a destination for visitors to this dynamic and beautiful region. With a helpful staff ready to host private parties, events, camps and whole-rink rentals, it’s always a good time at SKATE TIME!

OUR STORY

After fifteen years operated by founders Len and Terry Bernardo – and, later, by Stephen Apkon and Marcina Hale– SKATE TIME (formerly Skate Time 209) was shuttered by the pandemic in 2020, on the verge of permanent closure, when it was given an unlikely second life. Looking around for a larger factory floor for their growing business, Bjorn Quenemoen and Stephanie Bauman –co-owners of the wildly popular popcorn company Bjornqorn—came to SKATE TIME with a unique vision: what if they could save this beloved local institution and also use its ample space to house a new popcorn factory? Bjorn and Stephanie approached their close friends Liese Mayer and Stefan Merrill Block –a book editor and a novelist—with their Willy Wonka-esque idea, and soon the four partnered to bring back SKATE TIME. With general manager Tara McFarlane –former Event Manager at Foxfire Mountain House—and celebrated chef Chris Lanier –co-owner of local favorite Ravenwood— SKATE TIME reopened its doors in March 2023.As BjornQorn begins to move its factory into its new home at SKATE TIME, a lot of exciting improvements and new offerings are in the works, but SKATE TIME will always remain an inclusive space for anyone who wants to lace up under the disco balls and “let the good times roll.”

HOUSE RULES

To provide a safe, wholesome, fun experience for the entire family, the policies listed below are established and enforced.

Roller skating is a strenuous and fast-moving sport. By putting on skates and participating in this form of recreation you are personally assuming the risk of an accident inherent in this and any similar sport. It is in the nature of this recreation that people fall down or run into one another on occasion. If you are not willing to assume that risk, please do not roller skate.

If you doubt your ability to roller skate, please consider this notice before proceeding. We cannot be responsible for any injuries which occur to our patrons while they are in this facility. Because of the normal risk of maintaining balance on skates, and the probability of occasional contact between skaters, accidents can and do happen. You must voluntarily assume the risk of injury when you skate.

By entering our building you agree to abide by all rules and regulations, which have been established and are enforced for the safety of all skaters.

RINK POLICIES

OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINKS ARE NOT PERMITTED INTO OUR BUILDING.  The only exception is if you have booked a birthday party, in which case you may bring a birthday cake or cupcakes.  Additionally, you may bring treat bags or “thank you” bags for your guests; however those must be passed out at the end of the party.

Skate Mate trainers are not included in any package and are always $4 extra; except for Sunday Mornings, 10am-12pm, for our Tot Time session. Skate Mates are available on Saturday afternoons and all day Sunday. We do not permit Skate Mates in the evening session on Saturdays. Skate Mates are available at a first come first serve basis. If your Skate Mate is left unattended it will be collected by staff and you will have to rent another one. Skate Time reserves the right to collect Skate Mates from anyone using them improperly. Skate Mates are intended for ages 2-8. Adults cannot use Skate Mates

Unless otherwise specified for a special event (such as “Teen Skate”) all minors under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.

No weapons of any kind or toys that look like weapons.

Medically necessary wheelchairs – The fun is for EVERYONE!  Most of the time, we can accommodate persons in a wheelchair on our skating floor without an issue.  Please check at the ticket office upon arrival. If the rink floor is crowded (meaning that the chance of someone with skates on running into the chair is high) we may ask that you either:

  • refrain from using the wheelchair on the floor altogether (we’ll suggest another time to come back and try again)
  • or only come onto the floor when smaller crowds are present.

Refunds:  Refunds are not given; however, we may choose to provide you with a complimentary pass on another session should the situation warrant it.  While we try to keep all video game machines in good working orders, sometimes tokens jam, tickets run out, or tokens do not properly register. Refunds won’t be given for tokens, but please let us know if you encounter a problem and we will try to repair the machine or place an out-of-order sign

Management reserves the right to refuse admission or eject without refund anyone not meeting the standards set forth or for any other reason we deem adequate.
